Join the Adelphi Orchestra for a special concert at Ramapo College’s Sharp Theater as we celebrate the 150th birthday of the legendary composer Dmitri Shostakovich. Under the baton of conductor Kyunghun Kim, the program begins with the World Premiere of Ramapo Professor Gilad Cohen’s Between the Suns, an orchestration of his chamber piece Ten Variations, which was premiered by the Nash Ensemble of London in 2011 and won international awards in the US and Europe. It will be followed by Carl Maria von Weber’s Concerto for Clarinet No. 2 in E-flat major, Op. 74, featuring the talented clarinetist Kingsley Hsieh. The evening culminates in a powerful performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1 in F minor, Op. 10, one of his early masterworks. Don’t miss this exciting musical journey! The concert will be preceded by a pre-concert talk with Gilad Cohen at 7pm.
